Trinity River Lumber Biomass Energy Project

YTRL is requesting a condition use permit to construct and operate a cogeneration plant, additional dry kilns, and an additional planer mill at its existing sawmill complex in Weaverville, CA. The proposed cogeneration facility would be fueled using primarily existing mill residuals and will have the capability to accept forest logging residuals and other external supply of clean wood products. Steam generated by the boiler would supply the existing and proposed dry kilns and allow TRL to produce and market kiln-dried lumber products. The kiln dried lumber will be sized and surfaced in a new planer mill proposed to be constructed within an enlarged existing building. Excess steam will be routed through a turbine generator with capacity to produce up to 5 megawatts (MW) of electric energy.
