Project involves the permitting and use of an existing portable copper sulfate loader at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California water storage reservoirs in Riverside County. copper sulfate application is an ongoing maintenance activity at Metropolitan's reservoirs, applied on an as-needed basis to control algae and maintain the quality of water before it enters Metropolitan's treatment system. The portable loader provides a flexible means to support this activity. The portable loader application system includes a manually loaded hopper with an electrically powered conveyor belt, with a maximum operating capacity of fifteen tons per day; its use is regulated by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
