Document Description
This project is to replace the drain lines for the historic fountain and Lavanderia in the gardens at La Purisima Mission SHP. This project lies within archaeological site CA-SBA-520a, is in the historic zone of the Mission and involves historic structures. An archaeological monitor will be required to oversee work. The existing drain line which connects the lavanderia and fountain to the aqueduct is composed of original/historic terra--cotta clay pipes. The pipes must be snaked regularly to maintain drain flow and keep the fountain and lavanderia functional. The system is failing to drain because of root intrusion and/or because the clay pipes have become brittle and are disintegrating.
