Document Description
The Dapartment of Water Resources (DWR) maintains a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-issued hydropower license for several southern facilities, designated as South SWP Hydropower Project No. 2426 (P02426). The current license for P-2426 was issued on March 22, 1978 and expires on January 31, 2022. The relicensing process is very lengthy and complex and needs to be initiated in early 2014 to meet FERC-required relicensing deadlines. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) operates Castaic Powerplant under the existing license and will be DWR's co-licensee for the P-2426 relicensing process. Both DWR and LADWP desire to share in the costs and responsibilities of managing the relicensing process and the terms through which this coorperation and cost-sharing will occur are outlined in the "Relicensing Process Agreement between California Department of Water Resources and the Department of Water andPower of the City of Los Angeles for the South SWP Hydropower Project No. 2426 (Agreement_).
