The project would remove historic mercury mine waste; including mercury enriched soil and calcine remnant materials. The project would also include construction of erosion control measures within the Senador Mine watershed to reduce soil erosion and sediment transport into McAbee Creek from soils with elevated mercury concentrations. Project activities would include channel headcut repair, grading to create stable banks, removal of soil and replacement with clean soil, re-grading to form gentler slopes, re-vegetation and hydroseeding of the disturbed area.
