Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to Caltrans pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 2081(a) for a project to collect a limited amount of seed from three California endangered species, California Orcutt grass, San Diego Button celery, and Otay mesa mint, to be distributed into restored vernal pools on the project site. Seed will be collected from the project site and will be temporarily stored in paper bags at the RECON facility in San Diego prior to being redistributed onto the project site. San Diego Button celery and Otay mesa mint seed will be applied by hand to the enhanced vernal pools during the winter following the onset of the first rains. California Orcutt grass seed will be grown as container plants at the RECON facility and installed along the wet margins of the pools early in the rainy season.
