Document Description
Perform maintenance on Rock City Trail, Civilian Conservation Corp Trail, Staircase Trail, Summit Trail, Camel Rock Trail, Buckeye Trail, and Diablo Ranch Trail in Mt. Diablo State Park to improve park facilities. Work will repair tread to maintain a uniform and out-sloped surface, remove inboard slough and outer berms, and trim vegetation to maintain a 6-foot wide and up to 12-foot high trail corridor. All trail work will be performed per the guidelines of the CA State Parks Trails Handbook and the CA State Park Vegetation Management Guidelines for Trails and Roads. No work will occur on cultural elements or structures (i.e. Historic CCC retaining walls, drainage, bridges, etc.); protected special status plant species (i.e. Contra Costa manzanita, Mt. Diablo manzanita, Hall's bush mallow will not be removed, but could be trimmed under the direction of the District Environmental Scientist as necessary; an Alameda whipsnake monitor will be present and bird nest(s) will be protected if work is performed during nesting season.
