Document Description
This project will support the build out of hydrogen refueling infrastructure to support the roll out of fuel cell vehicles in California.
The nature of the project is installation of hydrogen refueling equipment at 11 existing gas stations. Hydrogen refueling equipment consists of 1 hydrogen storage tank, and compression and dispensing equipment. Beneficiaries will include residents in Coalinga, Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, La Canada Flintridge, Long Beach, South Pasadena, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and will expand to much of the surrounding areas as these stations allow drivers to use fuel cell vehicles displacing polluting vehicles.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project adds equipment to each station that covers an area which is less than 700 square feet, with an excavation area of no more than 1,000 square feet at existing gas. Installation of small new equipment, including one hydrogen storage tank of up to 250 kg capacity, and compression and dispensing equipment to dispensing equipment, at each site. Installation of the equipen in these projects there will be between 5 and 52 feet of trenching per location to connect storage and compression equipment to dispensers.
