Document Description
The City of Fontana is preparing to modify several existing zoning designations and to create a new Emergency Shelter Overlay (ESO) District to meet new state requirements, in accordance with California Senate SB 2 and AB 2348. The parcels proposed for the zone change include approximately 102.2 noncontiguous acres of both developed and vacant land; 32.1 acres of developed land are proposed for the ESO District. The new zones proposed include a Multi-Family Medium to High Density Residential (R-4) zone and a Multi-Family High Density Residential (R-5) zone. The project also proposes to implement an ESO District to officially designate areas for emergency shelters. The proposed project does not entail the development of specific mixed-use or emergency, transitional, or supportive housing projects. Future development would be required to further evaluate potential impacts as part of subsequent CEQA documentation.
