- Document Description
- The Renewable Energy and Transmission Element Update will update the existing 2006 Geothermal/Alternative Energy and Transmission Element and associated implementing ordinances. The proposed project will identify new opportunities for renewable energy and assure that the Imperial County General Plan can meet the needs for future development while remaining consistent with identified land use and environmental goals. The proposed project would support the development of expanded renewable energy power production and exportation to accommodate future growth in California and improve overall system reliability. The proposed project would expand the existing element to take into account additional forms of renewable energy, including wind, solar, deep solar ponds, biofuel, bio-mass, algae production, concentrated solar-thermal power, and concentrated photovoltaic. Consequently, the updated element will be re-titled as the Renewable Energy and Transmission Element.
