- The Mariposa County Planning Department has received an application for Amended Mining Permit and Reclamation Plan (No. 2013-150) from Mark Long, operator for Fremont Long Consolidated (CA Mine ID No. 91-22-0009) and Iron Springs Consolidated (CA Mine ID No. 91-22-0010). Fremont Long Consolidated is an existing active mien with a decomposed granite pit and a fill dirt hill. Iron Springs Consolidated is an existing active mine that is mined for slate. The application proposes to combine both mining operations into one mining permit and reclamation plan with two different sites (Fremont Long Consolidated [FLC] and Iron Springs Consolidated [ISC]). The application also proposes to amend the existing (approved) mining permit and reclamation plans (95-1 and 95-2) for both mining operations. The proposed termination date for mining operations is proposed to be extended through 2037 from 2020.
