Document Description
DTSC has issued an emergency permit to Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) to treat hazardous waste by chemical stabilization. It has been determined that these items are or may be highly reactive and must be stabilized prior to being transported offsite. The chemicals are expired and are currently being stored inside a laboratory at the HP facility located at 1501 Page Mill Road in Palo Alto. The treatment of these items will be carried out by Clean Harbor Environmental Services (CHES) and involves the addition of a solvent to the container to reduce the reactive characteristics of the chemicals. The treatment is anticipated to occur outside of normal business hours in an exclusion zone at the HP facility.
