Document Description
In response to current drought conditions, the SFPUC needs to be prepared to divert water from Cherry or Eleanor Reservoirs to Mountain Tunnel through the Lower Cherry Aqueduct (LCA) to supplement current supplies from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. The LCA is required to deliver a minimum 150 cubic feet per second to augment the existing system demand by October 1, 2014. However, the LCA cannot perform this funciton in its current condition because of damage from the 2013 Rim Fire. The Project will repair fire damage and clear debris from the 2013 Rim Fire as well as upgrade aging facilities to ensure that water deliveries to 2.6 million customers relying on the Hetch Hetchy Water and Power system wil not be compromised.
