Document Description
Pursuant to Tulare County Ordinance Code Section 4-03-1135, the County of Tulare has the authority to determine and set hours and days of operation for landfills owned/operated by the County of Tulare. Beginning July 1, 2014, or as soon thereafter when its Solid Waste Facility Permit is modified, the County intends to increase Visalia Landfill operating hours from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, to 6:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Saturday operating hours will remain from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The landfill is primarily utilized by the Cities of Tulare and Visalia and Solid Waste Haulers licensed by the County of Tulare; which deliver the majority of their solid waste on weekdays, while a majority of the general public uses the site on Saturdays.

General Rule S: 15061(b)(3) This action is consistent with Section 15061 (b)(3) "general rule" or "common sense" exemption. The exercise of the authority contained in Ordinance (Section 4-03-1135) will result in increasing the operating hours (Monday through Friday) for this landfill operated for the County of Tulare Solid Waste Division. The increase of operating hours of the landfill will not result in an adverse impact on the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Tulare County.
