Document Description
Project is to repair the Yucca Cottage septic system. Roots from the tree of heaven on the west side of Yucca Cottage have broken into the septic line and blocked it. This is causing sewage to back up into the toilet and sinks in Yucca Cottage. This project involves replacing the broken septic pipes between the kitchen and bathroom in Yucca Cottage and the cesspit located under the gravel driveway on the west side of the building. The contractor will saw cut and remove a 4-foot by 6-foot piece of the concrete at the northeast corner of Yucca Cottage in order to access the connection where the kitchen and bathroom sinks join the main septic line. The contractor will excavate at this location and replace the 4-inch by 2-inch connection and cast iron manifold. The contractor will also excavate the gravel driveway at the northwest corner of Yucca Cottage to access the place where the septic line changes direction from west/east to north/south. The contractor will also excavate the gravel driveway approximately 50 feet south of the direction change to access the cesspool. The septic pipes between the excavations will be replaced using trenchless technology. the contractor will backfill all the excavation holes. State Parks staff will replace the concrete with in-kind materials.
