The purpose of this survey is to continue a coastwide time series of estimates of abundance and age composition to be used in the Pacific hake stock assessment which estimates stock abundance. The NWFSC will use a combination of acoustic sampling using a Simrad EK60 echo sounder system at depths of 100-4920 feet (30-1500 meters) while traveling at 8-10 knots (15-19 kilometers per hour). After receiving an acoustic signal, a trawl net will be deployed to verify species composition.
