Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to The Center for Lands Management pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 2081(a) for a project to collect of leaf material and seeds, conduct genetic analysis, and conduct an inbreeding study on the San Fernando Valley spineflower (Chorizanthe parryl var. fernandina), a California endangered species. Leaf material will be collected from no more than 140 individual plants for genetic analysis. Approximately 100 seed will be collected and transported to the National Forest Genetics Lab in Placerville, California where they will be grown under greenhouse conditions to a flowering state beginning in fall/winter 2014. Several selected plants will be self-pollinated or cross-pollinated by hand. Seeds from these plants will be grown for one growing season in a greenhouse.
