Goleta Beach Park Bridge 51C-0158 Replacement, County Project Number 862319

CDFW is intending to execute a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code (# 1600-2014-0214-R5) to the Project applicant, Morgan Jones of the County of Santa Barbara. The Project proposes to replace an old, existing vehicle bridge at the access of the park with a new 168-foot long, 53.5-foot wide, 2-span cast in place, concrete, box girder type bridge. The abutments will both be notched, and cast in drilled holes outside the banks. On the north side, 4 piers will be needed to provide support between the abutments; these will be vibrated into the mud, outside of the wetted channel. The new bridge will be constructed 40-feet west of the existing bridge, and when completed, the old bridge will be demolished. The old bridge will be constructed 40-feet west of the existing bridge, and when completed, the old bridge will be demolished. The old bridge requires removal of piers that are located in the wetted channel. These piers shall be isolated from the water and removed using a water isolation system where monitors can relocate any species that may be nearby. The final demolition plan shall be submitted to CDFW for approval prior to construction. Tarp or other material shall be suspended from under the old bridge to catch any materials during demolition, even concrete dust. This material shall be removed from the water covered portions of the slough every week or more, depending on the amount.
