The wastewater treatment plant is designated as a Public and Institutional (PI) in the City of McFarland General Plan and zoned Heavy Industrial (M-3) by the City's zoning ordinance.
Document Description
The project would increase the capacity at the WWTP from 1.55 million gallons per day (mgd) to 2.5 mgd. The City proposes to convert the existing treatment process from aerated lagoons to an extended aeration-activated sludge process. The project would replace the existing dual headworks with a single headworks (with lift pump) and construct two new secondary clarifiers, a new return activated sludge (RAS) and waste activated sludge (WAS) pump station, and a new effluent pump station. Lagoons 3 and I-A would be converted into sludge drying beds.
