Document Description
California American Water (Cal Am), the project applicant, proposes development of a slant test well, which would extend diagonally under the floor of the Pacific Ocean through the Dune Sand Aquifer, Salinas Valley Aquitard (if present in the project area), and 180 Foot Aquifer or its equivalent unit at this location (referred to herein as the 180-FTE). The project proposes construction of up to 4 monitoring well clusters to monitor aquifer reactions to short-term (24 month maximum) pumping program of the slant test well. The project also includes electrical connection and trenching, and connection and discharge of pumped water into the Pacific Ocean via an existing ocean outfall pipe. At the completion of the pumping activities, the slant test well and monitoring wells would be sealed at 5 feet below ground surface and all appurtenant components removed.
