Document Description
Remove exotic plants from an approximately 3-acre project area within the Big Lagoon bog and the immediately adjacent coastal scrub and forest in Harry A. Merlo State Recreation Area (HMSRA). The project consists of removing exotic plants with hand tools (e.g. shovel, chainsaw, Pulaski) from within the project area and restoring the integrity of the bog. Excavation will not exceed 24 inches. Chainsaws will be used to remove the upper portion of the plant and digging tools will be used to remove the root ball. An alternate method for removal should cultural resources restrict excavation would be to cut the vegetation to the ground and cover with tarps.
