Stout Grove Trail Repair
NOE - Notice of Exemption
Reestablish a section (5 feet wide by 30 feet in length) of Stout Grove Trail, in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, Del Norte County, which was damaged when a large, 25-30 foot diameter- at - breast - height redwood tree fell. The purpose of this project is to repair, and return continuity to, the existing trail alignment.
Due to the large diameter and ecological and aesthetic value of the tree, the trail section reroute will be established to follow alongside the fallen tree. The realignment will require the removal of two redwood logs, three feet in diameter by ten feet in length, and one damaged bay laurel.
Minor alteration in the condition of land and vegetation which does not involve the removal of healthy, matre trees; included as "trail realignment" in the Department of Parks and Recreation's list of exempt activities, in accordance with CCR section 15300.4.
