Document Description
Fire Crew Preparedness exercise 2014-2015: The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate fire preparedness for Cal Fire hand crews. The exercise takes place during 4 days in May, allowing participating crews to rotate through various activities. The activities consists of crew inspections during tool up and fire shelter deployment, a 4-mile crew hike, and fireline construction. The fireline construction will clear approximately 18 acres of chaparral, in strips 450-feet long and 5 feet in width, distributed within a 140-acre brush field in Section 36 of over the 2-year period. The fireline construction consists of cutting brush with chainsaws and axes, and scraping the ground to bare soil using hand tools. The Project also includes the utilization of existing unpaved roads by crew busses.
