Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2014-0278-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, San Joaquin County Department of Public Works. The project is limited to installation rock slope protection (RSP) across the channel of South Littlejohn's Creek beneath the Van Allen Road Bridge to reduce scour of the bridge piers and abutments, and prevent further degradation of the channel. Work will include clearing vegetation and grubbing along the banks on the creek, the temporary installation of an access ramp, diversion of the creek flow by a cofferdam or alternate, excavation of the earthen channel bottom and banks to a maximum depth of 4.5-feet, placement of an estimated 400-cubic yards of RSP and protection fabric to conform to the upstream and downstream conditions, and placement of Gabion Mats along the embankment to reduce depths of excavation. Approximately 430-cubic yards of material will be dredged from the stream over a maximum of 75-linear feet. Project staging will be located on an open dirt area at the southeast corner of the bridge crossing. Work will occur during periods of low flow in South Littlejohn's Creek.
