- Repairing the embankment along the southbound Highway 1 at Postmile 7.2. Major elements of the project include: excavating the loose material on the hillside below the highway; protecting the soil surface from erosion by placing rock slope protection fabric; installing rock slope protection; filling voids with native topsoil; applying biodegradable erosion control; and reseeding to restore the original naturalized slope. The proposed project is both within and outside of the existing highway right-of-way. A temporary construction easement, and permanent easement of acquisition, would be required. The construction would take approximately 45 to 60 days. No traffic lanes would be closed during this work.
