Document Description
The overall intent of this project is to proactively accelerate the deployment of high temperature fuel cell-chiller technology into the Califronia market by developing and demonstrating a high-temperature fuel cell/absorption chiller CCHP system at a building facility in the UCI campus. The specific site selected for installation of the integrated system is a two-story, multi-purpose science and technology building to represent a generic office building. To achieve this goal, the prject will (1) develop and optimized integrated high-temperature/absorption chiller system design, (2) maunfacture, install, and demonstrate the designed system, (3) eveluate the performance and market value of the product in California, and (40 advance market engagement. The fuel cell will have a nominal electrical output capacity of 300 kW while the absorption chiller willprovide 40 refrigeration ton based on initial energy balance.
