- Document Description
- The project includes constructing a canopy mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the California Department of Public Health Richmond Laboratory Complex. The project will affect about 9.6 acres of the Complex's parking area. The PV system could potentially generate 5.3 megawatts of electricity, which will reduce the Complex's power grid-based energy purchases and help meet the State's renewable portifolio standard target (Senate Bill 2 - First Extraordinary Session), to have one third of the State's electricity come from renewable sources by 2020. Construction activities include hole-boring, minor trenching, cement pads installation, and parking lot tree removal for building the canopy and installing the photo array and associated transformers and inverters.
