Fuel reduction within Fuel Segment 12 is identified in the Burton Mesa Fuel Management Plan. Project involves removal of decadent shrubs/subshrubs and invasive weeds within the treatment zone, determined by the location of the Reserve boundary as it relates to a 100 foot distance from structures on adjoining lands.
Measures and procedures have been outlined in the Burton Mesa Exological Reserve Fuel Management Plan to increase the safety of the Reserve and the structures immediately adjacent to the vegetation located within the Reserve. Removal of invasive weeds will enhance habitat value.
