Document Description
CVWD proposes the relocation and reconstruction of approximately 4,600 lineal feet of the Coachella Canal immediately parallel to the existing Canal within U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) right-of-way between the existing drop structure at Milepost 120.8 and the existing drop structure at Milepost 121.8. The project is located mostly within the SilverRock Resort and Golf Course in La Quinta, Riverside County, within portions of section 8 and 17, township 6 south, range 7 east, San Bernardino Base and Meridian (see Exhibit 1). Differential land subsidence has resulted in a loss of the original flow capacity of the Canal. The purpose of the project is to reestablish the original design flow rate of 480 cubic-feet per second in this section of the Canal. The existing section of Canal between the Milepost 120.8 drop structure and the Milepost 121.8 drop structure would be decommissioned through demolition and/or back-filling. The project includes the construction of a bridge across the new portion of the Canal at Avenue 54. Three power poles, currently located along the western USBR right-of-way near the existing drop structure at Milepost 121.8, will be relocated to the east side of the new Canal.
