The project proposes to maintain adequate vegetation clearance consistently along the major access roads and four foot wide road shoulders within Chino Hills State Park in order to facilitate access for vehicles during emergencies. The majority of the work will be done with hand crews. Mowing equipment will be used in some areas so that impacts to sensitive habitat or species will not occur, and will be accompanied at all times by separate qualified staff and equipment assigned as wildfire safety spotters.
No potential significant impacts to the environment is anticipated in compliance with Section 15300.2. If the project is implemented as indicated within the CDPR Project Evaluation Form including measures provided by CDPR specialists, then it is exempt under CEQA §15304 - Minor Alterations to Land. The Project does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees. The actions fall under the Departmental List of Exempt activities as established according to CEQA §15300.4.
