Document Description
The project includes repairing three road slip-outs at two different locations on Alpine Road. At the first slip-out, the slope will be reconstructed by cutting a 35-foot long by 8-foot wide keyway approximately 12 feet below the roadway, backfilling the constructed keyway with large 3- to 4- foot diameter boulders and placing 2- to 3- foot diameter rock above the keyway to provide support for a reconstructed road embankment. The revetment will be covered with native or imported soil, seeded with a native plant mix, mulched with sterile rice straw, and covered wtih an erosion control blanket. Live willow stakes and/or willow cuttings will be incorporated into the structure. The Site 2 slip-out consists of two adjacent areas of slope failure. At both failure sites, soil nails and shotcrete facing will be installed into the hillside and the upper sections of the embankments. Heavy equipment will be operated from the roadway and silt fencing will be installed beneath the work area. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2013-0372-R3 is pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
