Removing and replacing approximately 589 pedestrian signal indications with new countdown timer indications at ninety-seven (97) traffic signal controlled intersections throughout the City. Pedestrians and vehicular traffic will benefit from improved awareness of when it is safe to use a crosswalk.

Reasons for Exemption
The project to remove and replace existing traffic signal equipment on existing City-owned facilities is exempt from environmental review in accordance with Section 15301 Class 1 (c) (Existing Facilities) of CEQA guidelines. The replacement of pedestrian signal indicators will involve negligible or no expansion of the use of City streets and sidewalks.
