Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a Project to repair and stabilize a slide area between (PM) 37.3 and 37.7 on (SR) 96 in Siskiyou County. The Project consists of helicopter installation of steel mesh rock drapery, drilling and installation of guardrail. Most of the work is confined to the existing Department of Transportation (DOT) Highway easement, but some work will be required on adjacent U>S. Forest Service Land (Klamath National Forest). Work that may be required beyond the highway easement, involving approx. 0.5 acre, includes selective tree removal and installation of anchors for the rock drapery. Consequently, it is anticipated that a new DOT easement will be required. *See additional details attached.
