Document Description
DTSC is proposing to approve a RAP pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 6.8, Division 20, CA Health & Safety Code (H&SC). The purpose of this RAP is to implement remedial activities at Site 6 that are protective of public health and safety and the environment. Chemicals of concern (COCs) in soil at Site 6 include benzene, dioxins, manganese and metachlorophnylpiperazine (MCPP). COCs in groundwater include arsenic, benzene, ethylbenzene, manganese, MCPP, naphthalene, xylenes, 1,1,2-trichloroethane and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH). The RAP proposed remedial alternatives for soil and groundwater that include the following activities: soil excavation to 5.5 feet below ground surface and backfill; off-site disposal of excavated soil; Institutional Controls (ICs); and long-term groundwater monitoring. Implementation of the proposed soil and groundwater remedial alternatives would: 1) ensure that the exposure pathways would be eliminated for future recreational users and occupational workers at Site 6; 2) prevent exposure to COCs in soil gas (that emanates from the groundwater) to future occupational workers; and 3) reduce the potential for COCs in soil to migrate to groundwater.
