Document Description
This proposed project consists of two culvert improvements that cross Stonybrook Creek along the County of Alameda maintained Palomares Road at Mile Posts (MP) 8.60 and 8.75. It has been determined that both culverts are barriers to all lifestages of anadromous fish, including federally listed Distinct Population Segment (DPS) Central Coast California steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The primary concerns that led the sponsor, the Alameda County Resource Conservation District (ACRCD), to propose the Stonybrook Creek project are: a) presence of barriers to migration of anadromous Central Coast California steelhead and resident rainbow trout to identified spawning and rearing habitat in Stonybrook canyon and b) a concern for damage to public infrastructure and private property due to undersized crossings.
