Document Description
The proposed project involves replacing the fender system serving Piers 4 and 6 at Continental Maritime of San Diego (CMSD), located at 1995 Bay Front Street in San Diego. Piers 4 and 6 currently utilize floating timber camels to hold ships at berth at a distance of the pier. These floating camels are approximately 30 years old and are nearing the end of their useful life. Upgrading the existing floating camels is neither practical nor economically feasible, thus, CMSD is proposing to remove and replace the existing floating camels with cylindrical floating foam filled fenders backed by a steel panel attached to a group of four steel H piles (two existing and two new).
