Document Description
The Del Rio Woods Recreation & Park District is proposing removal of a summer dam spillway that currently obstructs the Russian River, intrudes on views of the river and surrounding hills, and is a potential hazard from unauthorized use. The dam spillway would be removed by using a dozer/front end loader for installing construction access and removing spillway materials, a vibratory hammer to break up the concrete and loosen steel sheeting, and a crane or excavator to remove large sheet metal pieces. The top concrete panel would be cut open with a concrete saw, and inner materials (likely gravel or compacted soil) would be placed in upland or beach areas, as appropriate, where turbid water will not flow back into the river. All spillway pieces would be trucked to a nearby landfill, recycled, or reused in other projects.
