Document Description
The project is limited to the construction of a 350-linear-foot section of County road, one 35-foot long mechanically stabilized earth backfill retaining wall, and drainage culvert improvements; installation of asphalt concrete pavement; and removal and restoration of approximately 220 linear feet of existing temporary bypass road from within the Ruins Creek channel and banks. Approximately 2,850 sq. ft. (180 lineal feet) of riparian vegetation will be temporarily impacted from construction of the road realignment. Approximately 500 sq. ft. of the Ruins Creek channel will be temporarily impacted from removal of the temporary crossing (culvert and rip-rap) and riparian restoration activities. Four coast live oak trees ranging in diameter at breast height (DBH) from 10 to 20 inches and one 15-inch DBH willow will be removed as a result of the project. CDFW is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2014-0032-R3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Matthew Johnston, Santa Cruz County Dept. of Public Works.
