Document Description
The Project is limited to improve spawning and rearing habitat for coho salmon and steelhead trout by increasing habitat diversity in North Fork Big River, a tributary to the Big River and James Creek, a tributary to North Fork Big River in Mendocino County. The objective is to improve the quality and quantity of salmonid habitat by placing large wood structures instream to increase pool habitat, provide holding habitat for migrating salmonids, and sort and collect spawning gravel. Habitat improvements will be accomplished by installing instream habitat structures at 35 sites including 76 logs, 15 root wads, and 1 J-hook wing deflector (rock structure). Final Structure design and placement will be determined by field consultation between the Grantee and the CDFW Grant Manager.
