The construction activities described in the Trinity River Channel Rehabilitation Sites: Bucktail and Lower Junction City EA/IS would create additional fish and wildlife habitat at a number of discrete locations within two separate work areas on the Trinity River. Work to be performed includes removal and replanting of vegetation. Earthwork in the floodplain includes excavation of low-flow side channels, re-contouring of bank and floodplain features, and creation of wetlands. In-river work includes construction of skeletal bars and island/island complexes as well as creation of wood and rock hydraulic features. The work at Bucktail and Lower Junction City is considered to be within the scope of the Master EIR for channel rehabilitation and sediment management for remaining phase 1 and phase 2 sites = SCH #2008032110.
