Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has amended Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2019-0040-R5, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Metabolic Studio as represented by Lauren Bon. The project proposes to construct and operate a 48-foot-diameter water wheel outside of the river channel to model after the historic water wheel as an aesthetic/educational statement. About 0.2 cfs of the diverted flows will be lifted by the water wheel to the adjacent ground surface for storage, treatment, and distribution for irrigation at State Historic Park, Albion Riverside Park, and Downey Recreation Center. Diverted flow will re-enter the channel 2,300?feet downstream from the diversion point. The amendment is to allow around-the-clock work only for the jack and bore tunneling through the west embankment of the Los Angeles River (LA River) channel to a receiving well pit on Metabolic Studio property, as presented in the original Project outline. The timeline for the around-the clock work at the Project site is 8 days and would begin on August 15,2023.
