Document Description
The project will permanently close a one-mile, dead-end road to motorized use. The purpose of the project is to improve sage grouse habitat in the area. Implementation of the project will also eliminate access to a seasonal wet meadow where vehicles are driving and camping. The project is located in Long Valley, an area of habitat containing meadows and sage steppe that is preferred for foraging and brood-rearing by sage grouse. Treatments include barricading motorized access by placing large, native rocks, vertical mulching, seeding of native vegetable, interpretive and eductional panels of BLM's actions, and public outreach.
