Document Description
CLWA entered into a long term agreement with Buena Vista Water Storage District to purchase up to 11, 000 acre-feet per year of Buena Vista's high flow Kern River Water subject to Buena Vista's pre-1914 water rights (CLWA Buena Vista Water). The Buena Vista Water acquired by CWLA is stored under the CWLA/Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District Water Banking and Exchange Program. CWLA intends to transfer up to 22,000 acre-feet of CWLA's Buena Vista Water to four member units of KCWA. To accomplish the proposed transfer, DWR will deliver up to 22, 000 acre-feet of CWLA's approved SWP water supplies to KCWA's turnouts in reaches 9 through 16A of the California Aqueduct and reach 31A in the Coastal Branch of the California Aqueduct in 2013 and/or 2014, in-lieu of delivering a like amount of CWLA's Buena Vista Water previously stored in the groundwater basin underlying RRBWSD.
