Document Description
The proposed project will remove and replace the existing 1,165-foot long, 35-foot wide, 14-span structurally and functionally deficient bridge (#38C0023) with a new 1,238-foot long, 79-foot wide, 8-span arched, cast-in-place concrete box girder bridge over the Tuolumne River. The replacement bridge will have two lanes of traffic in each direction. Each of the piers will consist of 6-foot diameter concrete columns. The bridge will accommodate a 5-foot-wide Class II Bike Lane in each direction. A separated pedestrian walkway with railings along both sides will range in size (10-foot wide on the west, 5-foot wide on the east). The project also includes slope paving of the embankment slope in front of Abutment 1 on the south side, rock slope protection at the embankment slope in front of Abutment 9 on the north side, 3 retaining walls, and removal of 13 existing piers and abutments. Temporary structures such as falsework, coffer dam and pedestrian bridge (if needed) will remain in the floodplain during the flood season.
