Document Description
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) proposes to demolish most of the Laboratory of Radiobiology Building at the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus site. The existing vacant building is 18,219 gross square feet (gsf). At project completion, 970 gsf would remain. Specifically, the project would demolish the top two, above grade floors (Floors 2 and 3) of the Laboratory of Radiobiology building, and retain, gut and structurally reinforce the below grade first floor and basement. Parking would be provided at grade. In addition, the 1950's elevator would be demolished and replaced. The basement level would be either permanently sealed or backfilled. A decommissioning plan was approved by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch and would be implemented before demolition. The proposed project is consistent with the UCSF 2014 Long Range Development Plan. On a temporary basis, the site would be used for construction staging for nearby renovation projects. After that time, a more permanent paving project would convert the site to permanent parking for contractors (9 parking spaces) with storage for contractors below.
