Document Description
The proposed project is to construct streetscape improvements along Parnassus Avenue between Fifth Avenue and Medical Center Way. The purposes of the improvements are to make crossing the street safer and more convenient for pedestrians; increase bicycle safety; reorganize and improve transit and UCSF shuttle operations; create more usable outdoor pedestrian space; strengthen UCSF's identity; and enhance the public realm as called for in the UCSF Physical Design Framework. Improvements include new paving, street furniture, lighting and street trees, as well as sidewalk and crosswalk widening in certain locations and better defined campus gateways. These improvements are proposed to occur in phases starting on the south side of Parnassus Avenue, at the west end of Fifth Avenue, and extending to Medical Center Way.
