- The Orange County Transportation Authority, in cooperation with Metrolink (operated by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority), the City of Laguna Niguel, and the city of San Juan Capistrano, proposes the addition of approximately 1.8 miles of new passing siding railroad track adjacent to the existing main track between milepost 183.9 and milepost 195.7. The purpose of the project is to facilitate a faster, safer, and more reliable passenger rail system. The project supports the goals of the Metrolink Service Expansion Program.
