Document Description
The Project seeks to improve acccess to and within the Marin Headlands and Fort Baker for vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, and to initiate these improvements in a way that benefits natural and cultural resources of the Marin Headlands and Fort Baker. To accomplish this, the NPS will (1) widen, realign, and close roads and trails, (2) eliminate, reconfigure, add parking areas, (3) remove informal roadside parking areas, and (4) expand existing public transit services. These infrastructure improvements and management actions will also reduce impacts on natural and cultural resources by improving public transit to and within the GGNRA thereby lowering the carbon footprint of visitors, and locating roads, trails, and parking areas away from sensitive areas whenever possible.
