Document Description
This planning grant will evaluate alternative routes that will enable El Dorado County to close portions of the Rubicon Trail subject to wet saturated soil conditions and provide an alternative route around these areas in an effort to keep the trail open year round and protect water quality. The two primary areas of concern are Wentworth Springs Campground and the Winter Camp areas. Studies to be funded by this grant include a trail alignment survey, cultural resources/compliance with Section 106 of the Historic Preservation Act, biological/wetlands delineation/permitting, development of an optimum trail alignment (to avoid or minimize impacts), public outreach, CEQA documentation, and other necessary analysis.
