Present Land Use
The site has a trucking sales and repair business on it, but is mostly vacant. The zoning is General Industrial (M) and the General Plan land use designation is Industrial (I)

Document Description
The request is for approval of a Use Permit for a freestanding outdoor advertising sign adjacent to I-5. The sign would have one face, 36 feet wide by 12 feet high, directed toward the southbound lanes of I-5. The request is also for approval of a Variance from the Zoning Code restriction for freestanding outdoor advertising signs of a maximum overall height of 50 feet. The proposed sign height is 68 feet. The Variance is requested because there is an 18-foot-high berm between I-5 and the proposed sign location which would limit the visibility of a 50-foot-high sign.
